Description of Project :
The Colombo National Museum was constructed in late 1870s. The existing structure consists of masonry walls, masonry and stone columns as load bearing elements. Timber beams and planks had been used as flexural elements for the Upper Floor and asbestos roof was supported on timber trusses. Upper floor corridors and Verandahs had been paved with bricks which were supported on closely spaced timber beams.
Description of Services Provided:
1. Establish structural design/repair criteria and submit an ‘Assessment Report’
2. Establish design proposal for electrical installation
3. Provide design proposal for an upgraded CCTV/IP Surveillance system
4. Provide design proposal for Audio Visual system for proposed mini – Auditorium
5. Preparation of Specifications and tender documents
6. Preparation of BOQ and Engineer’s Estimate
7. Establish design proposal for Fire Protection & Detection System
8. Attending to routine construction supervision work
9. Inspection of remedial works during Defects Liability Period on routine basis
